Family and Me

Types of families PSHE lesson. A one-hour long, very detailed, fully resourced PSHE lesson suitable for KS2. This lesson has been created for Year 3, however, the contents of the lesson are suitable for students across KS2. In this lesson, the students will investigate different types of families and family structures. We will look at single-parent families, two-parent families, foster families, and blended families. We will also discuss adoption and same-sex families within these family structures. The students will look at their own family structures and share their thoughts on what it means to be a family. The lesson includes an information sheet, a video clip task, a key term matching activity, a reflection-based main activity, and a plenary task. Created to fit the new DfE and PSHE Association statutory 2020 /21 guidelines, the lesson includes a detailed PowerPoint, all editable with accompanying tasks and worksheets. The lesson has been left editable and is filled with engaging, well differentiated and fun activities. It is designed to be ‘no prep’, so you can just pick it up and use it, although it is still adaptable should you wish to.
