Polite words - KS1 - Year 1

Polite words KS1/Year 1/Autumn 2 PSHE lesson.  Created with a view to being delivered in the Autumn term, this lesson builds on learning from the previous lesson, What is respect?, and explores the importance of using polite words when interacting with others. In this lesson, the children will learn about the different situations when we should be using polite words, with a particular focus on please, thank you, and excuse me. We will read Sue Grave's, Rhino Learns to be Polite, before completing a set of activities linked to the text.  The lesson includes a starter activity, a cut-and-paste sorting task, a story with accompanying questions, a draw and write activity, and a game of Splat in the plenary task. Created to fit the new DfE and PSHE Association statutory 2020 /21 guidelines, the lesson includes a detailed PowerPoint, all editable with accompanying tasks and worksheets. The lesson has been left editable and is filled with engaging, well differentiated and fun activities. It is designed to be ‘no prep’, so you can just pick it up and use it, although it is still adaptable should you wish to.
